Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare an ice bath: Fill a large bowl with ice and cold water. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Blanch the green beans: Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook uncovered until tender-crisp, 2 to 3 minutes. Drain in a colander and immediately plunge into the ice water for several minutes to stop the cooking process. Drain well. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Pre-cook the bacon: Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until almost browned but still pliable, about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels and let cool slightly. (15 minutes)

04

Step

Assemble the bundles: Wrap 8 to 10 green beans with a half-slice of bacon and place into a 9x13-inch baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Repeat with remaining green beans and bacon. (20 minutes)

05

Step

Prepare the glaze: Combine melted butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and minced garlic in a bowl and mix thoroughly. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Marinate: Pour the glaze over the green bean bundles. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for maximum flavor. (120 minutes)

07

Step

Bake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake the green bean bundles in the preheated oven, covered with foil, for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue to bake until the bacon is crispy and the glaze is caramelized, about 15 minutes more. (45 minutes)

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze.
If you don't have maple bacon, regular smoked bacon works perfectly well.
Ensure the green beans are thoroughly drained after blanching to prevent a watery sauce.
The marinating time is flexible; even a shorter marination will impart good flavor.
